The way the Gambling Industry have wormed their way into Football has been discussed in detail before on this Forum - see
Now Entain - owners of Coral's, Ladbroke's, and Foxy Bingo plus 13 other websites - who are also the parent company of league sponsor Pitching In - have been fined £17million by the regulator for failing on safe gambling and money laundering. Details here:-
£17million is a piffling amount to this Gambling Company [ and not its first fine]. Furthermore the proposed legislation to ban gambling logo's on the front of football shirts is under pressure from the gambling companies - who, dare I say it, seems to have some politicians in their pockets too.

With the gambling companies haveing such a large involvement with sorts sonsorship, it is understandable that the goverment may be thinking twice about the ban on logos on the front of shirts. This would bring about a large loss of revenue to the game and it is dificult to see which (more politicaly correct sponsors) would take their place. Also, where does this stop, if we ban gambling companies, will we then be looking to ban fast food companies and those making fizzy drinks?

Much of this has all been mentioned before in the original thread but I think its worth mentioning that its not a case of Political Correctness - its an Ethical arguement. 20 Football League sides have vowed not to be sponsored by Gambling Companies. You only have to read the judgement in detail of the latest Entain fine to realise why they feel the way they do.
No club in the EPL or EFL have front of shirts sponsored by an alchoholic drinks firm and Smoking has long been banned. So as we learn more about the effects of fast food and fizzy drinks on our diets [There is already a sugar tax affecting fizzy drinks] or anything else come to that, then there will always bansor taxes. The main driving factor to all this is to prevent childrens health and well being being affected and to protect their future
