I have absolutely no idea whatsoever, couldn't even hazard a guess. I assume then you know. I know from speaking to a reliable source (ex player)it was average a little over £100per player

This is not a personal thing. James and family have been tremendous. I just don't see the club going anywhere. If their objective is to go down a league and stay there then fine. However, any footballer and manager would want to better themselves. We are just not equipped for moving forward. You can talk about budgets all your life, but when you have Benefield, a really good goalkeeper swearing at a ref, getting sent off when your team are second from bottom, I would expect better. Listening to James does not inspire me, doesn't even look at Graham. I understand the communication in the changing room is pretty shoddy as well.
That all said, the Directors have chosen this route, so God knows what their strategy is, this is a community club, not a hobby for those who think it would be fun

Why does he need to look at graham on the interviews? How is he supposed to sound inspirational after a lose and how do you know what his talks are like in the changing rooms. Have you spoke to someone who’s in the changing rooms?

Why does he need to look at graham on the interviews? How is he supposed to sound inspirational after a lose and how do you know what his talks are like in the changing rooms. Have you spoke to someone who’s in the changing rooms? Jack what do you think is the role of a coach and manager? If Im following what you saying, you are saying a manager, specifically our manager is not responsible or accountable for: -Recruiting players capable of doing the job at hand -Coaching players to be capable at performing at the requisite level -Organising a team so they can compete at the level -Players attitudes, behaviour and discipline. If that's the case then I think if you start a football team you would have a queue of managers wanting to work for you knowing that all the above isn't their responsibility!!! I get what you are saying about budget, I really do and clearly everyone has talked about it so much, that it must be have been very low. But the budget was reflected in that job spec given to the manager. I don't think anyone here is asking for a change because we aren't mid table. The manager had one job as a result of the low budget which was to stay up which HD agreed to and it looks like that task won't be achieved. That why we want change and I don't think anyone anywhere outside of those with personal relationships with James would say at this point his dismissal would be unfair or unreasonable. Also. I'm not sure you can site Dorchester as a example as to not to change their manager. I don't care about dorchester but I don't believe any of their last few managers have been successful, so I think you would probably suggest whoever is deciding the managers up there is as accountable as the poor managers themselves. But its worth remembering they aren't in the relegaton zone and not looking down a barrel, so I don't think their circumstances are the same as ours I do agree with you in aspect if the board have decided however bad the results or relegation they are going to keep James then, its pointless talking about changing him or being upset if we lose However if I'm right, they did say things would be reviewed by the end of January, we are here now and our situation hasn't changed. So it would maybe be an idea that they now come out and make a statement confirming their support of the manager, ideally explaining why and what the plans are post relegation.

So it would maybe be an idea that they now come out and make a statement confirming their support of the manager, ideally explaining why and what the plans are post relegation. Merely I agree with you the manager is accountable for recruiting, Say James wanted to sing a player from last in the summer and could only pay him £150 for example and he could go down the road to dorch or poole in the same league for £175/200 who do you think they will sign for. Therefore this is a budget problem in my eyes. Coaching to make the team better yes I get that as well but if the players as many have stated are not good enough then they can only be coached so much and with mid week games they train for a hour or so a week how can you coach players during that to an acceptable level?? Given players discipline/attitudes etc how can a manger manage what a player does on the pitch once he’s picked them. I’m just giving dorch as a example of what situation they are in, regardless of who chooses the manager I’m just saying with the same player avaliable to him as the old manager nothing has changed so why would it with us is all I’m asking. And agree with you again if the board are with James then for his sake I hope they come out and announce something soon so you all get behind him and the team.

When he opened his mouth like that he let down his team mates and club, especially at a time when they should all pull together. I have listened to James an quite a few occasions, unfortunately he does not inspire me. If he talked like that in the changing room, I think I would walk onto the pitch rather thanrun

Fergie supposed to control that??? You’ve now gone from previously saying you’ve heard the changing room communication is not great to he doesn’t inspire me, we’ll unless your one of the 16/20 people including staff in that changing room Lu have no idea what his team talks are like or how inspiring they are.

I understand what you are saying Jack, and I am not for one moment saying that it's easy, but football isn't played by numbers, if it was then we wouldn't love It so much. The situation James has had to deal with, however challenging shouldnt mean he is incapable of effecting the points we've talked about. And the reality is over a period of time he hasn't.
I'm not saying that James is a poor manager, he may go to prove himself as a very capable manager in the future and could depending on how this situation ends come back in the future if his legacy isnt tarnished. But as with any business, as a manager it means the buck has to stop somewhere and nowhere is that more the case than football.
I sincerely hope for some info from the new board shorty.

I remember being told by someone who had been speaking to Gambo in pre-season that he was very enthusiastic about the players they had signed. He is alleged to have said - words to the effect that - This team is going to go places. But I don't think he meant to the bottom of the league !

Hello all. New on here but not to the club. For those calling for a change of management, I’m intrigued as to who you feel would be attracted to the role? Do you have any names in mind or is it just that “anyone would be better than what we’ve got”?
It’s a genuine question, I’m not looking for an argument.

I think you will find that should the managers role become available there will be no shortage of people attracted to the role.
Even if we end up getting relegated it will still be an exciting project for the right person who will potentially have a bigger budget to work with next season.
I am sure that the BoD will already have a contingency plan in place and will have already sounded out potential candidates should either they or James decide the time is right to go their separate ways

That seems a confusing reply to me, as most of the calls seem to want the change to avoid relegation!
Is there any evidence to back up your point about there being no shortage of applicants or is that a romantic response? I personally find it hard to believe anybody would be willing to join if relegation is odds-on. Arguably, no manager worth his/her salt wants relegation on their record, irrespective of whether it was avoidable or not.
For the record, I can see both sides to the story but am still of the opinion that stability is key.

Is the budget relevant? If it is small, medium or large, it remains the same for whoever is in charge, old or new.
I can see the wider project being an attractive proposition but have to agree with the above sentiment that nobody will want to blot their copy book with a relegation that they could do nothing about (record books don't show mitigation).
With that in mind, I would be very surprised to see any management changes taking place before the end of the season.
Do you think the board has the relevant expertise in this niche area? By their own admission, they are not from the football world - I just wonder who would be advising them if what you proffer is true? What does the Yogi candidate slate look like?

I’ll throw some names into the mix, but purely speculation and I have absolutely no idea whether they’d be interested in the job or not.
Tim Sills from Hamworthy, not only has he done a good job and they look like winning the league but an ex pro at Torquay, Aldershot etc so should have plenty of contacts and experience from being a full time pro playing under lots of experienced managers.
Louis Langdown, ex AFC Totton manager who was assistant to Brian Stock at Weymouth until a couple of weeks ago, ex AFCB academy.
Taffy Richardson, assistant to Tommy Killick at Poole for years, currently working in the academy with Matty Holmes
Craig Davis, ex Cardiff city player doing a good job as the Winchester City manager
Mikey Harris, ex Salisbury City manager who took them to the national league, last I heard he was working with the Portsmouth academy team
Ben Strevens, just lost his job as Eastleigh manager, would he drop down the southern prem to get straight back into management? I’m not sure but would be a great appointment
