After a dire first half by the Magpies we went in 2 nil down at the break. We were much better in the 2nd half but couldnt break through until 74th minute when Dan Bartlett produced one of his specials to make it 2-1. At this stage Wimborne were well on top but with just 5 minutes to go a hoof out by a Larkhill defender bounced high in front of Shane Murphy and into the net for 1-3. A fluke goal and all looked lost but Slimbridge looked tired at this point and Wimborne pressure resulted in Harry Morgan making it 2-3 on 89 minutes. The Magpies were rampant at this stage and Harry Baker made it 3 all in the 2nd minute of added time much to the delight of the crowd. Slimbridge looked dejected as they trudged off.

With regard to the bounce that deceived Shane Murphy,[at the housing estate end] I had noticed that the ball in that area had bounced high all afternoon. More so than the River end. Ken Stewart reckoned that was due to the drainage work which had been done during the summer - although I thought the River end goalmouth had been the main problem with drainage.?

For me a poor day. Playing 3rd bottom at home and conceding 3 goals and drawing against a very poor side. Not a good day.

……. not a good day on the pitch for the first 45mins. But Tim’s interview says it all for me. Open and honest, yet constructive for the future. Great to see Connal and Lewis connect on the left …

That’s now the third game in a row we haven’t turned up in the first half, is this down to team selection ?
The second half we were totally different team, three away games now to try and get our first away win in 15 months ?

I think you can put question marks over our keeper for all 3 of the Slimbridge goals.
Chance to put it right against another poor side on Saturday!
