After the shock of going down 1-0 in the opening minutes, the Magpies fought back to be up 3-1 at half time. Goals by Dan Bartlett - a cracker from around 30 yards- a great header from Louis 'Goal Machine' Kellaway and an interesting goal, close in, from Luke Burbidge [ did he head it, did he kick it, did it come off his chest ? TBTV will tell us]
The second half was a scrappy affair with Cinderford pressing more than Wimborne, but truth be told both sides were suffering from the heat by then
Attendance was 365 which, if we remember right, was approx 200 down on last year's home opener
More details to follow

Great result. Wouldn't worry too much about the attendance - a lot of people like me are on holiday and unable to attend and last season I reckon Taunton brought 100 or so, helping swell our crowd. If we continue to win the fans will return.

The Cinderford goal was given as an o.g. by our keeper Tom Parker-Trott - from a corner
And for those of you who didnt buy the 54 page programme yesterday [and if not - why not] then here is the Chuckle Corner section that was in it:-
Cinderford is a town and civil parish on the eastern fringe of the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire. The estimated population in 2020 was 11,399
The town came into existence in the 19th century, following the rapid expansion of Cinderford Ironworks and the Forest of Dean Coalfield. Cinderford's origins can be seen in the style and layout of the town, with long rows of identical terraced housing similar to those found in the mining villages of the South Wales Valleys. The decline of the coal industry in the 1950s and 1960s affected Cinderford as most of the male population was employed in mining. The name Cinderford, used for a crossing point over Cinderford Brook, is recorded as early as 1258. The name reflects the site of early ironmaking which created deposits of cinders (clinker), sometimes in large mounds. The distance between the Causeway Stadium, Cirencester and New Cuthbury is 102 miles [via A36] and should take approx 2hr 45 mins I refuse to work in a coal mine. It's beneath me The 7 dwarves were working in the jam butty mines when there was a roof collapse. When Snow White heard about it she rushed to the mine. She peered down the mine shaft and shouted "Is anybody there ?' A voice floated up from the deep saying 'Wimborne Town will win the FA Cup.' 'Thank goodness for that' said Snow White ' at least Dopey is alive' If you need a loan then borrow money from a pessimist -- they don't expect it back. i went to the off license on my bike and bought a bottle of vodka and put it in the basket on the front...then it occoured to me that if i fall or something happens then the bottle might break. So i drank it all right there; and its a good thing i did cos going round the roundabout on the way home I fell off 7 times. A White Horse walks into a bar and asks for a whiskey. The barman says " I suppose you want the whiskey named after you " The horse says "What, Eric" My mate said to me , he said, I bet you can't name a famous Egyptian landmark, I said thats what you Sphinx So I was working at Burger King and Andrew Lloyd Webber walked in. He said give me two whoppers. I said you're good looking and your musicals are great Pete and Harry were talking one day. "My wife asked me to buy ORGANIC vegetables from the market garden," said Pete "So were you able to find some?" Harry asked. "Well when I got to the market, I asked the farmer, 'These vegetables are for my wife. Have they been sprayed with any poisonous chemicals?'""The gardener answered: 'No, you'll have to do that yourself.'" An Italian chap went into a phone shop and asked them for a Statue. The salesman said "sorry sir, we dont sell statue's, try the Antiques shop next door." But the Italian insisted he was in the right shop. "What exactly do you mean" said the salesman. "You must have a statue" said the Italian. "You know, one of those things that rings, and when you pick it you say - Hey Statue" Quasi Modo was in the bell tower of Notre Dame Cathedral . Suddenly the huge bells started ringing unexpectedly. This startled Quasi Modo and he ran around trying to dodge the swinging bells. Unfortunately one of them hit him on his head and he was knocked down to the Cathedral floor below. As he lay unconscious a paramedic said to the Bishop. "Do you know this man ?" The Bishop said " No - but his face rings a bell"
My local florist isnāt into butter. She's not interflora either.
If we got rid of all the margarine and spreads, the world would be a butter place.
I was in the supermarket and a bloke threw some butter and milk at me recently. I thought āhow dairyāā¦. Then, they threw some mild cheese. I thought āthatās not very matureā.

Surprisingly Poole's attendance was only 361. Another surprise is that although Tony Lee has been suspended by Poole Town nevetheless he has been loaned out to Farnborough ! What is more he scored the Farnborough goal in their 1 - 1 draw against Dulwich in their first venture into NLS.

That's some attendance at Totton! Look forward to our match there this season and at Melksham who are another well supported side. Surprised me that melksham crowd. I used to visit my cousins in the early 90s and we spent quite a few days in melksham. There didn't seem to be much there!

Fantastic start to the season! From the moment we made it 1-1 it never looked like they'd trouble us, and they didn't. My own concern would be us defending set-pieces and teams targeting us on those. Look at that bench....it's incredible the strength and depth that we have!! It's a real shame that Wednesday isn't a home game, but i think if we can get away with a point then 4 from the first two games would be an excellent start!

Admin Ben's post:- Attendance was 365 which, if we remember right, was approx 200 down on last year's home opener and another suggested Taunton may have brought 100, so the deficient 100 are likely to be people having a look around to check out the new ground and they may have just a tenuous interest in football never mind WTFC and returning when it suits them. I would have no problem watching a game of cricket on a sunny Sunday afternoon and their 'new' ground is reasonably close to my home but I've never been down there.

Looking through the Non-League Paper, and of the 79 games at Step 4, only 10 had a bigger crowd than us (although there wasn't an attendance given for 3 games), which is not too shabby if you look at it that way. Looking ahead, a friend of mine said his boss, who is an avid Luton Town season ticket holder, will be looking to go to St Albans City games in National League South during the World Cup to get his live footie fix. We've got a lot of non-league clubs around us in this area, how do we get those kind of AFC Bournemouth fans to choose WTFC, and sample the delights of the New Cuthbury over the other clubs?
