I won't be at the game so won't be producing a match report. Could someone post on the Forum what the team was and highlights of the game, please?
Basingstoke play in the Isthmian South-Central division, which is the same level as our Southern League Div One South. Last weekend they drew 1-1 at Totton.

So today I watched my first pre season game at new cuthbury, having unfortunately missed all the wins due to work and other stuff. Bought my season ticket on Thursday and then my supporters club membership from my doppelganger Steve R today and a replica shirt. Bought the full English and then sampled a few beers and I'm like "what just happened!?"
totally shellshocked if I am honest and stopped at my local on the way back for more beer!!
Sadly our family holiday means I miss the first league game next saturday but I need some soothing words from James or someone else to assure me this was just a blip as this match is bringing back bad memories of last season !!
I'm a big comic book fan and did wonder if an alternative universe wimborne town showed up today !!

Magpiesgraham, you did well to miss this one. A throwback to the woes of last season. Fortunatly this was only a pe season game but we need to sort this out before next week.

Hi… well I watched almost all the game (grandparent duties 😘)…. Our defence was weak… silly mistakes… C’mon guys you’re better than that … you know you didn’t play up-to our strength… and Arnie you must carry some of these issues.., That said what a GREAT test for the boys… I’m sure James and his team learnt a great deal from our strengths and weaknesses… and perhaps we needed that…. But not a ‘pretty’ game to watch I must admit… BUT the faith goes on… Hopefully our team will be back to full strength next week… Connal… thanks for your input… OMG you have the spirit we all want to see…, And what a great full English on sale before the game… C’mon guys let’s support these initiatives from Claire and her team…

Well, I didn't expect that when I turned up on Saturday! Positionally we looked all over the place. It was like 11 players had been picked at random and put on a pitch together having never met. I don't actually believe that Basingstoke are a better side than us, but they were everything we weren't...determined, organised, hungry for the win...all things that we certainly were not.
But, it's only one game and we've been pretty faultless over pre-season, so I'm not looking into it too much. Especially the few games that I've been too (Poole, Dorchester and Bournemouth & Verwood). Looking forward to Saturday now and hopefully starting the season the right way because we're miles better than the dross we showed on Saturday!

And what a great full English on sale before the game… C’mon guys let’s support these initiatives from Claire and her team… Agreed - it was a good breakfast but very few people there buying it... Talking of food and drink one of my passions is real ale and for the second game running I had to return a pint of Ringwood as it was frankly rancid. On this occasion Clive said it wasn't an end of barrel pint so I'm wondering what the issue is. The beer only travels up the road so I'm struggling to understand why the quality is often variable(I had a few iffy pints last season too, others were fine)...... Anyone else experienced this ?

Real ale should be stored at cellar temperature around 11C, and as long as the cask is not tapped an average strength ale will last about 6 weeks; but once it is tapped it should ideally be drunk in 3 – 7 days.
If you are having to return your pint on a regular basis I would suggest that one of the above is not happening.
