Hi All. …. well I visited the club today for a beer… yes minus the dog… wake up BOD… Great to see the pitch looking good, turf in the goal areas and touchline looking good, much irrigation in action to assist growth.., Nice to chat to Jeff our kit man… what a legend… and Claire our brilliant Club House Manage…. things are looking good for the start of the season… all very positive… Walking back from the Folk Festival.. where they charge a fiver to enter the bar … and a drink at the Club… a great pint for £4.50 …. we really need to promote this… As I entered the industry of Sales and Marketing 40+ years ago… ‘sell the sizzle not the sausage’… still applies today… we have the Club, we have the great staff.. we just need to encourage ALL potential customers…. and promote it…. Oh and can’t wait for the new season….

Another good post from Mowerman, again showing the value of having a Fans Forum.
The "sell the sizzle not the sausage" slogan intrigued me as to where it came from.
Yesterday I assumed it was a Gerald Ratner quote. But this morning I think I have the answer.
As a young lad I bought a "Roy of the Rovers" comic every week. When Roy Race was player / manager of Melchester Rovers he had three wingers, Charlie Chipolata, Fred Franfurter, and Sid Sizzle, in his squad and he had to let one of them leave. Sid was the least popular with the supporters so the local paper, The Melchester Mail, ran a campaign under the banner: "Sell the Sizzle, not the sausage".
Or did I dream that ...

A good post during a week when a fellow southern league club has gone bust. We have a great club with great people. Give me semi pro local football over the circus which is the premier league, any day. I don't think I have ever been as pumped for a new season as this one and that includes 2018/19 after our last promotion.

I visited the club this Sunday afternoon to watch the Charity 6 a side tournament that also featured on the clubs website/Twitter on Monday. Not really advertised but pretty busy. Maybe a missed opportunity given that some current players were playing including Harry Morgan for the winning team! It is a top notch venue that we need to promote!
