Look out for the video of my chat with club chairman Tony Grant about the work on the pitch which we filmed this evening (Wednesday 25th).
I've asked for it to be posted on the club's website soon.

I understand that the man who posts stuff onto our website is on holiday for a few days. As soon as it's available then I'll let you know on here.

I'm told that the interview won't be posted until the end of next week at the earliest.
If you'd like a copy of it, it's about 9 minutes long, then contact me by email: magpies.graham@gmail.com
Meanwhile, here's a precis of what Tony said:
Work already done - 80 tons of sand put on pitch; pitch deep-seeded using quadraplay machine (google quadraplay), which slits, scarifys, brushes and rolls. If you go the ground you'll see that the grass looks really lush.
Work to be done - starting next week (weather permitting) - sewage works end whole penalty area dug down to 300mm; carpet of gravel put in; then mixture of soil and sand; topped with turf. Housing end - similar work but smaller area. This should take about one week, but depends on weather. The whole pitch will then be deep-seeded again, but in the other direction.
In theory we could use the pitch three weeks after, so it should be OK for the pre-season games.
They're 99% certain that the main problem was that there was too much clay, and not enough sand in the soil used for the pitch. Hence the sand and deep-seeding on the rest of the pitch.
We have two AFCB groundsmen who work on the pitch. And we have two Premier League signings in the shed, both new-to-us machines - a tractor from Tottenham, and a rotary mower from Leicester.

Excellent news, lets hope the work is successful and we can have a pitch to be proud of.

Excellent news, lets hope the work is successful and we can have a pitch to be proud of. We can then hope to get a few "floating" supporters through the gate when Poole have games called off because the school playing fields are flooded. Hold on a bit there yogi, I’m not a poole fan at all but can’t go around saying that when they didn’t have a game called off last season after all their previous pitch problem.

Don’t go having a pop at Poole after the way our pitch flooded during the first Weston game ! We need to keep everything crossed this limited fix works before we start having a go at other clubs pitches ?

I was under the impression that PTFC weren't too concerned by a waterlogged pitch. There is apparently good money to be made these days from Swimming with Dolphins.

Thanks Graham, I’ve just watched Tonys interview interesting listen. Who was overseeing the construction of the pitch if the problem with it is to much Clay in the make up of the substructure someone must be responsible for that mistake ? Good job we’ve got groundsmen on board now, Shame no one thought about asking these guys to come on board when the pitch was being laid a professional set of eyes on things would have saved the club lots of money not to mention the embarrassment of what went on last season !!!
