If you don't buy a matchday programme you really should as there is so much info in there. One regular feature is DorsetDave's chuckle corner which not only is a good laugh but has interesting info about the places where our opposition comes from. Here is one from the beginning of the 21/22 season when we played Chesham at home
"Chesham is in the Chiltern Hills, Buckinghamshire, England, 11 miles southeast of the county town of Aylesbury and 26 miles north west from the centre of London. It is in the River Chess Valley and surrounded by farmland.
Chesham has a population of over 29,000. The Elgiva Theatre, Lowndes Park and the open-air heated swimming pool at the Moor Gym and Swim are just some of the many public amenities available in the town. Chesham is at the end of the Metropolitan line on the London underground system. Contrary to popular belief, the town is not named after the river; rather, the river is named after the town. The first recorded reference to Chesham is in 970 under the Old English name Cæstæleshamm meaning "the river-meadow at the pile of stones"
The distance by road from The Meadow to New Cuthbury is 107 miles
I once bought a cake in the shape of a chess set. When I tasted it, it was terrible, so I took it back to the store and said "This is stale mate!!"The shopkeeper said "Are you sure??" I said "I'm sure, if you don't believe me, then check mate!!!
I went to the DIY store the other day. The car park was very full. I asked a chap driving out - 'How big is the queue' He said about the same size as the B
I'm addicted to brake fluid. But I can stop anytime I like.
Marriage is like a card game. To start with you have 2 hearts and a diamond. By the end you wish you had a club and a spade
Went into the pet shop to buy a gold fish. The assistant said "Aquarium ?" I said " I don't care what star sign it is.
A man got caught stealing a combine harvester. He's being bailed tomorrow.
These are messages seen on the information boards at London tube stations:-
If anyone is having a bad day remember that on this day in 1976 Ronald Wayne sold his 10% stake in Apple for $800
Today it would have been worth over $58 billion
In tribute to the late Joan Rivers parts of this station will be replaced over the next 40 years
The DFS Furniture Sale. When did it begin ? When will it end ? Has anyone paid full price for their Sofa ?
