Sorry to see Weymouth's relegation finally confirmed last night. Like ourselves they struggled on budget especially against the mega bucks likes of Wrexham and Stockport and interestingly the manager change made not one iota of a difference. I was willing them on as the only Dorset side in the National League but it was a step too far. NL really is division three of the EFL in all but name.
Fans with long memories like me may recall Weymouth briefly topping the Vauxhall conference in It's inaugural season in 1987/88 setting a record crowd at their then new stadium v Lincoln city. They got into money troubles after that I think and have never been as strong since.
Also interesting at how much delight Yeovil fans took at their relegation on social media. Again parallels between the Weymouth v Yeovil rivalry and ours with poole.
Anyway as a fan of Dorset non league club football (except poole - lol) I hope like us they fight back next season !

I remember when in the sixties Weymouth were the side to beat in the Southern league, as it was then. One particular good game was between two of the best, Weymouth and Yiewsley FC (now defunct). I watched as a young teen, living in Yiewsley, and it was always nip and tuck.

Agree it’s a shame to see another local club relegated, but like bezza said they are in the same position as us really, league to high and not enough resources. The only difference is the changed manager and it didn’t work, I think there a a echo report between the first 15 games of Brian and David and Brian’s was better.
Another example of change isn’t always best

I'm not a huge fan of the National league. I went with a maidenhead United (another black and white wearing magpie club) supporting mate to see Eastleigh back in October and it was £20 to get in! Plus segregation and some anti social behaviour. Cant take alcohol into the ground either. Not the non league I like.
NL South however is quite tasty. Plenty of southern based clubs next season for Weymouth to play and the trips to Worthing, Havant and Taunton will be mouth watering for them.
Bit like our prospective trips in southern league South! Not all bad dropping down a league !
