Firstly apologies to Harrow and all those impacted by the late call off. The pitch is embarrassing at present - there is no other word for it. But equally we’re stuck with it for the remainder of the season.
To clarify the inevitable question about timings. If there is any concern about the weather or possible postponement a pitch inspection must be arranged before the away side depart. Harrow were leaving at 10am.
The pitch was inspected by a local referee who passed it as playable before they left and part of their role is to take account of the forecast. Whilst we all knew the rain was likely later we can’t do the inspection at say 11.30 or 12 as Harrow will be well on their way - it has to be before they depart. Thereafter it’s down to the match referee to assess it when he arrives. Unfortunately the pitch is so poor at present it quickly floods but this morning it was fine …it’s a tricky one for any referee taking account of forecast conditions.
Of little comfort I know to anyone and especially Harrow but thought it useful to explain before the inevitable positing about the timing of the inspection. Frustratingly there is nothing concrete to report on the pitch situation yet either.

For once I don't blame the current board, but someone needs to be held responsible. How many postponements can you have before the fa ask questions. Added to which, given our situation in the league, this is not helping our cause

The referee should have called it off at 9 knowing the forecast and if so much as a cup of coffee is dropped on the pitch it floods.

We're not alone in having the game called off: Southern League Premier South - 5 out of 11 postponed; Southern Premier Central - 7 of 9 postponed Southern Dive One South - 3 of 8 postponed Southern Dive One Central - 7 of 9 postponed.

Aren't the club liable to get fined for this late postponement [£500?]or at least the club will lose that in revenue. Were any of the other SL postponed games called off so late.
Were any supporters let in before it was called off - If so have the club sorted out a ticket policy since the Weston game was called off after the start - with regard to entry for a re-arranged game

The pitch will have to be sorted out as soon as the season ends. I can only see it being relaid to cure it. Possibly, as it has been suggested on here before, raised too to compensate for the low lying ground.
It would be interesting to know if the camera's and other investigative work has found any problems to date.
I appreciate it is a sensitive question with possible litigation involved - but hopefully we will be told in the passing of time

Poole had a lot more games postponed in a season than we have but were never fined, as far as I am aware. Will a relaid pitch resolve the issue? I wonder if it will, Poole's problem was drainage. not the pitch. It could be a much bigger job than just a new pitch!
