If you have the time and inclination to keep an eye on another football club, Barnstaple Town (Barum) is an interesting option. Bill Wilson, who owns holiday parks in the area, and was a director at Carlisle Utd many years ago, recently took over as Chairman. He has vowed to invest up to £1milliion in the club, including a new 3G pitch, and improvements to hospitality.
Barum, who play in the league below us, were saved from relegation back to the Western League in the two curtailed seasons. This season started no better for them, and by Christmas they were well adrift at the bottom of the table. Craig Laird has been brought in as manager, he was previously in that role at Dorch and Weston. And he wasted no time in recruiting experienced players - strikers Ryan Turner, Billy Tucker, Owen Howe and Harry Baker, and keeper Lloyd Irish from Taunton among them.
Having won only one league game in their first twenty-three of the season, they've just recorded back-to-back wins against Slimbridge and Larkhall - on Saturday, Howe's 90+8th minute goal gave them a 2-1 win over Larkhall. That leaves them six points behind Mangotsfield, with just one team to be relegated.

If they manage to stay up this season and the chairman can consistently provide the funds, they could well be big challengers for honours next season.
If we do end up getting relegated this year it will be a very big ask to bounce straight back up, there will be a number of very competitive sides in that division operating with substantial budgets.

I've said this before Yogi, add Barnstable to Sholing who coincidently MSP also sponsor I see, Plymouth Parkway, Bristol Farm, Totton, Cirencester, Frome, Melksham are well backed. So with only 2 of those going up it and given the impact budget has on our performances. I would suggest playoffs would be a challenge.
