I went to the Academy game yesterday morning [wed 2nd Feb], It was half an hour late kicking off so I had to leave early when the lads were 2 nil down. However I did notice one interesting thing. Does anyone remember the Luke Burbidge 'Ghost Goal' when we played Dorch away some years ago. Here is the video when the ball hit the 45 degree stanchion support at the base of the post and ground bar, and bounced back into play.. Everyone was convinced it would have gone in otherwise. In fact when the manufacturer's of the Wembley goals, and who also make 3G goals [and who dont use this system] were contacted they said they were in discussion with the FA to get this sort of goal outlawed - which I thought had happened ? www.youtube.com/watch?v=QttMA8l-Mfg&feature=youtu.beThe irony of all this is that our Manager at the time was Matty Holmes - who, of course, now runs the Academy and who are playing with exactly these goals.!
Here is what Matty had to say at the time:-
P.S. Dorchester have now changed their goals which do not have the support in question - I wonder if we bought them from them 2nd hand ?
