If both sides put out their strongest squads then I feel Hamworthy must be the favourites. Earlier in the season we could only draw with Merthyr 1 all at New Cuthbury. However Hamworthy beat them 2-0 when the game was played at New Cuthbury. I've seen Hamworthy play a couple of times this season and they look a competent side.
As Graham says they have only lost once in the league all season, and not at the County ground at all. However they may not want to put out their strongest side with the prospect of promotion to the Southern League a priority.[So we could both be in the same league next season]. But as far as we are concerned and with our dire position in the league then I personally can't see why Mr Stokoe wouldnt put out our strongest side to try and salvage something out of our season.{ surely relegation is a certainty now} But of course the winners have to get past Poole in the Final to win the cup.So it will be interesting to see what sides each manager decides to put out

Dire position yes but it’s been a tough season with small resources in a strong league, I think the management and players have done well with what they had to deal with with injuries etc, they can’t help they’ve been left high and dry by the old board. Until mathematically down surely the league has to be a priority over Dorset senior cup

I asked Club Historian Ken Fergus if. other than pre-season friendlies, we'd played the Hammers in our Southern League days. Here's his reply:
"The only recent competitive games against Hamworthy I can find are these:
2013/14 Wimborne Town 1 - 3 Hamworthy United - FA Cup extra preliminary round, and
2014/15 Wimborne Town 1 - 0 Hamworthy United - Dorset Senior Cup."
I can't recall not receiving an answer from Ken to one of my queries - top man.

Whilst there's still a realistic chance of staying up, that has to be priority. Harry Morgan has been superb, if he picks up an injury in a needles Dorset Cup game then that's ridiculous in my opinion. The same can be said about other key players. What if Beale, Maybury, Morgan, Bedford or Bartlett pick up an injury and are out of a HUGE game against Tiverton Saturday. Make changes and rest key players is what i'd like to see. The Dorset Cup brings in no revenue and the games are glorified friendlies.

Agreed another comprehensive defeat on Saturday leaves us with even less margin for error now. With budget cut Tiverton in free fall on the horizon, Saturday is must win game. But one for some reason I think we will win comfortably. Lots of people moan about lack of opportunities for the younger players let's give them a opportunity to prove their value against a lower league side. Let it be Hamworthys big cup final we have bigger things on the agenda. If both sides put out their strongest squads then I feel Hamworthy must be the favourites.
