On behalf of the Board I wanted to wish you, the supporters all the very best for 2022.
2021 has been a tough year for the club as a whole which started with Covid and led to another unfinished season and then seeing us end the year at the bottom of the league. On the plus side we have a fabulous new ground and an injection of capital and new blood behind the scenes that puts us in better shape moving forward.
Every supporter and volunteer I’ve spoken to has been very supportive and full of encouragement since the takeover was announced which has reaffirmed why I started the process to get Martin, Adam, Steve, John & Dan involved alongside the existing board members, so a big thank you from me for all the kind words and my thanks to the 5 of them for stepping up.
There’s lots to do and we’ve tackled a few quick wins such as a bigger budget for James, GPS fitness tracking for the players which arrives in January and improved communication with the supporters, but there are many more to do and some like increasing the commercial revenue will take longer to build up and implement and will be more focussed towards the summer and next season. But we’ve made a start and we’re confident there are better times ahead for the club.
Everyone is being very understanding of the new Board as we find our feet but we do appreciate that some will want the pace of change to be quicker, whilst similarly, and in the social media age we live in, the thirst for knowledge and updates from the club will not be quick enough or regular enough for others.
But at the end of the day, each and every one of us are fans and we’ve all got the very best interests of Wimborne Town at heart and if that’s at the centre of everything we do as supporters, volunteers & Board members going forward then the football club will be in good shape for 2022 and beyond.
