So this might not be the biggest issue at the moment but given we have a small window of no football can I ask fellow forum members their views on the use of the turnstiles at New Cuthbury and also whether there is a view on having proper attendance tickets rather than a raffle ticket! I remember as a kid going to Upton Park and feeling the excitement go through the roof as I went through the turnstiles. To me it’s what football is about. We have them at the new ground and to my knowledge they never been used? Can we start using them rather than having us counted in. I presume it can count for attendance? Although myself and little Hammer have a season ticket occasionally Mrs Hammer comes along and pays on the gate (as well as Cup games for us). The tickets are paltry! Why can’t we have something like the 50/50 tickets which tell you which game you went to. Again it’s part of the match experience. Mrs Hammer still has her ticket from the abandoned WSM game although it looks exactly like all the other games she’s attended! Not sure how the club will cope with the rearranged fixture although we might get 800 in all claiming they were there that rainy night ( God bless you Billy Terrell for bouncing that ball) I may be old fashioned but turnstiles and football stubs mean a lot! What do others think or am I alone?

I think the printed ticket and using the turnstiles are great ideas and also protects the club.. at the moment there is nothing stopping someone showing up with a ticket purchased at a previous game and showing this to the steward on the gate.
Yes, the tickets are numbered but are not closely inspected.
I also like the experience of entering a ground via a turnstile as it makes you feel that you have arrived at the game.

Why have the turnstiles and not use them?

Hopefully the BoD will have noted this thread and will give us an explanation on Monday. There must be a cost implication in having individual printed tickets for each game - but if there is a situation like thw WsM game then how do the club account for letting people in for a re-arranged fixture. And lets face it we have a problem with the pitch so we could have this problem again
Incidentally the re-arranged Gillingham game is now on Wed 15th December which means the Weston game due on Tues 14th is postponed once more [Cup games always take precedence]
P.S. I have one of those raffle type tickets I got from watching the Reserves - could I use it again ? P.P.S Did I hear somewhere you still have to pay half price to get into the Weston game ? Considering having to get there originally in terrible weather, pay for car parking - then watch the water polo and the water sliding I think its a bit rich if it is the case

I wouldn't be expecting a glossy printed ticket as I wouldn't expect the club to pay out for these.. I think the expectation is that it is a piece of paper (credit card size) with states...
Date: Match: Adult / Concession Ticket number for attendance purposes.

Surely not! The integrity of the Club would be called into question. What would the WSM fans think? or will they be let in free and WT loyal fans expected to stump up again.

There was a communication a few weeks ago that the weston game will be half price. Unless it was free entry i can't see what else they could do.

There was a communication a few weeks ago that the weston game will be half price. Unless it was free entry i can't see what else they could do. So isnt this what we are saying. As they havent got any secure way of knowing who attended [i.e. a printed ticket] they are charging half price. Or do they mean half price for everybody. Do ST holders have to pay half price ? It should have been thought of at the time the game was abandoned to advise people to keep their tickets for the re-arranged game.[ I never heard an announcement to that end] That's what happens at Concerts, Football League games etc. But with a cheapskate method of issuing tickets it has caused problems. Why should it be half price for those that attended the abandoned game. There was no proper football, people got soaked and wasted their evening. So anybody who attended and wants to attend the rearranged game will have to pay 150% of the original price to watch a re-arranged game I appreciate this cock-up happened with the old BoD but I hope the new Board can sort it. As I say it could happen again so there needs [and should have been] a policy in place to cope with any future problems.

What do others think or am I alone? I have mentioned this on several occasions over several years, I think its a missed opportunity that the match day tickets are poultry raffle tickets, my suggestion was that a local company could have there business cards made up with WTFC match day info on onside and their business info on the reverse side, this can still be numerical or sequential to help with match day attendance figures.

Great thinking Steve, we really do have a number of surporters who come up with some great ideas and this forum is the perfect platform for airing those ideas.
With regards to the WSM game could this match not be "pay what you like"... Don't know if this would work but it would at least give surporters who attended the first game the opportunity to attend for free, yes you are taking a gamble with the people who didn't attend but if the game was advertised in the right way an increased attendance should cover any £ per surporter shortfall.

Steve and yogi. Both brilliant ideas.to be honest for this game yogis is a great suggestion. I wasn't surprised at all there was no directive issued on the night and would hope not to have to pay again.

Great Ideas. This is one for the new Commercial Director to sort out and get some advertising on a proper numbered ticket which should hopefully more or less pay for it. Then any abandoned future re-arranged game should be free entry, and if the kept ticket has a large sequential number in easy to read type for the gate staff to read, and for them to know which numbered ticket to accept for free entry - Bob's your uncle. Simples

We had our first Board meeting of the new era yesterday. We covered a lot of ground and news will filter out of anything relevant to the fans as and when we can, but I can confirm (subject to league ratification) the revised Weston Super Mare game (date to be confirmed but likely to be February) will be 'pay what you like' on entry given the abandonment of the original game.
