When plans for a new stadium were passed a few years back a mate and myself went down to the site to have a look. Parmiter Drive was a cul-de-sac then with a 5 bar gate at the end of the road which led into a large field which stretched all the way down to the A31 bypass.[ The field was what is now the site of Wyatts houses, New Cuthbury, the skateboard park and the allotments] As we were leaning over the gate an old boy, who lived at the end of Parmiter Drive came over to speak to us. We chatted with him and told him we were supporters of WTFC. His tone changed and he got upset that the countryside around him would disappear and be built on. And then he said to us - "When you get your new stadium I hope you never win a game there and get relegated"
Well it is looking more and more like his Curse and wishes might come true. Do you think we need a priest to come along to bless the ground and remove the curse ?

When plans to move where first talked about I asked on the old forum if the new ground would be a "noose around our neck" at the time Totton had just moved ground and ran into lots of budgetary issues which eventually played a big part in them being relegated... at the time I suggested that we enter into diolouge with Totton to ensure we didn't encounter the same issues as them... I'm not sure if that suggestion was acted upon but I suspect not. You reap what you sow!!!

I do remember visiting the old AFC Totton ground and then they did a deal with Linden Homes to build houses on it. Linden Homes then built them the current Testwood Stadium which was farther out of town [3000 capacity with 500 seated] ready for the 2011-12 season. However it turned out they built the ground too short for FA requirements so a wall had to be knocked down and the pitch extended !
They got relegated in the 2013-14 season to their current league, Southern League Div 1 South. Not sure if this was down to finances.

I remember finances playing a big part in their relegation, the BOD there hadn't budgeted for the costs associated with playing at a new ground... Sound familiar??
