This is the club statement:-
We can confirm that Connor Cocklin has left the club. Connor made 65 appearances for the Magpies, scoring six goals, and was part of our title winning campaign last season! Thank you, Connor - we wish you all the best! .

Really sorry to see him leave. He's been really unlucky not to get more minutes given some of the results we have had. I guess that's the problem keeping a squad happy.

Given that we are 11th in a league we finished bottom in the last time we were in it? I like Connor too, he’s a great guy who gave 100 percent in every game he played for us and I wish him nothing but the best at his new club, but personally speaking I wouldn’t pick him ahead of Harvey Wright, Sam Roberts, Billy Walker or even Sam Jackson at centre back. Just my opinion and I’m sure others may feel differently. It’s always hard to keep a squad of players happy as everyone wants to play every game but there is no room for sentiment if we want to keep improving sadly.

In my view, it was unfortunately a matter of time, Harvey and Robbo had become our first choice CB's and it seemed Connor was a some way down the pecking order.
Every player wants to play and he was not getting the minutes he wanted, so would like to thank him for last season, from his no nonsense defending to the important goals he came up with.
Good luck at Bemerton Connor.

Fully aware of that and it is a great start. Just making the point that he may have got a look in after one of the heavy away defeats. I was at Merthyr and the defence were ripped apart. Billy is really unlucky hes not starting more games but there you go.
