magpiesgraham - my father was a compositor on the old Poole & Dorset Herald amongst other papers when they used individual lead letters to produce any printed matter. Thats where I got proof reading from, he considered any errors in a printed publication to be a heinous crime. More so today when its all done on PC and everyone has a spell check. He never worked on The Grauniad! That said, my previous post is not without critique - spelt is in common use but spelled is strictly correct. The former is German wheat.
