Hello there, I hope nobody finds this inappropriate. I've recently started full-time at the Bournemouth Echo, and I am slowly working on improving our coverage of non-league. A few may already know me - I have been covering Poole for the past seven years or so, and infrequently covered the odd Wimborne game over the years for the Echo on a volunteer basis. I thought just like I do on the Poole forum, I'd create a thread where I can post the latest Wimborne Town interviews, news and articles from the Echo website. I have recently fixed the issue where non-league articles were not showing up properly on the sport front page, and also fixed the non-league page so it updates properly. (Link here: www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/football/non-league-football/ ) I'm looking into being able to separate the non-league page into club specific stories, but having no luck so far.

Thanks Jack for your efforts to date covering Wimborne via the Echo its much appreciated by the club and great to see some good quality non league coverage in the Echo which has been sadly lacking over the last couple of years. Please keep up the good work and look forward to seeing you from time to time on match days.

Pleased to hear that the Echo are improving their coverage of local Football. One thing I find is that it's difficult to find reports and info generally for the non-league.
When you go to the sport section of the Echo and get the drop down menu there is one for 'Cherries' and one labelled 'Football'. The one for Cherries is obviously for AFCB articles. However if you bring up 'Football' that again brings up loads of articles for the Cherries - many the same as you have in the Cherries section. In fact you have to scroll down to pick out the odd non-league articles from Cherries articles. Currently there is just two non-league articles in the first 20, as all the others are for Cherries.
In other words you need a separate section labelled 'Non-League' particularly to cover Southern League and Wessex League.

As you say click on the 'Football' section and next to the Football heading, once you arrive on the page there is a red Non League tab to click and bingo! UPDATE! It has now changed slighty, the red Non League tab is above the Football heading, not next to it!

There was an issue with the non-league section for a while - it wasn't updating stories properly, as far as I remember it had the same three stories since the summer. I also bumped it up in the order, as we update it more than the cricket and rugby sections. It should now be directly under speedway, so it's the third grouping of articles.
There's a few different ways to get to the non-league section I believe.
When you go on to the main sports page, it pulls all the sport articles, which is ordered based on a few variables such as age and what ranking we have given it. The non-league section works the same way, but will only show articles tagged non-league, same for football and so on.
If you use the drop down menu at the the top, you can access purely football articles - which there isn't a grouping for on the frontpage, because it is split between Cherries and non-league.
Right at the top of the football page there is a link to non-league, which is the other way of getting to it.
I'll see if I can add non-league to the drop down menu at the top, but I'm not very hopeful because I likely don't have the permissions for that, or I'll break the whole website!
I've also included a link in my bio (right at the bottom) that will take you straight to non-league. You can always bookmark it for ease of access.

The word "plough" might be an unfortunate choice of words with regard to the pitch. But in the summer I think it will have to be ploughed up anyway to sort the drainage problems out. When Oxford Utd used the pitch in the summer we had a downpour and the water lay on the pitch then and they couldnt use it. Should alarm bells have started to ring when that happened ?

Perhaps if anyone has access to the Echos comment section they could use this article to put pressure on the contractors... I am sure that they will not be wanting to receive bad publicity. I would be very surprised if the BoD haven't taken the opportunity of having the ear of Jack Tanner to highlight this issue through the press.

I would have thought Jack would have been in touch with White Horse Contractors/Slatters for a comment on the situation. If I was a journalist that's what I would do.
